As a photographer, I sympathize with the camera carry hassle. Carrying a camera can be painful and distracting. Being relaxed and inconspicuous is a valuable asset. A discreet and top-quality camera strap is our most important accessory.

I built my first camera strap in 2004, modifying a Nikon Pro Services camera strap by adding a non-slip rubber pad. The pattern on the grippy rubber pad did not slip. I called it the UPstrap® because the camera strap stayed UP on my shoulder.

I sent one to my friend Jay Maisel. Jay carries a camera ALL the time. Jay called and said it is the best strap he ever used. It saved Jay's shoulder. No more therapy. Steve McCurry wanted a strap. The word got out and I’ve been building them for 15 years

After 15 years of making camera straps, I have logged hundreds of hours on the phone with photographers. I’ve learned that many photographers love the UPstrap® but sometimes prefer to carry their camera sling - crossbody style. Many photographers want a leather sling that will develop the patina and vintage of experience. I started Journey Camera® leather slings and camera straps. After months of beta testing different types and thickness of leather and determining the best arc shape, I offer three sizes and quick release systems.
